According to police reports, the four young females planned the robbery just so that they could make enough money to party that night by luring an unsuspecting victim into helping them with car trouble.
They did just that early Saturday morning by cruising along Curry Ford Road with the hazard lights flashing on their car.
When they noticed 21 year old Cameron Castro walking home from work on the side of the road, they pulled into a nearby Krystal’s parking lot and asked for help, saying that their car was overheating.
Castro states that, after he agreed to help the girls and raised the hood of the car, one of them covered her face with a shirt and yelled at him to give them everything he had. The girl, later identified as 18 year old Rachel Salemi-Cavelli, also said that she had a gun.
At that point Castro asked the girls if they were serious, to which Salemi-Cavelli responded by putting a handgun up to his forehead.
Castro then handed over $50 in cash, telling the teens that it was all he had. Apparently upset by the low amount, the 17 year old driver of the car then struck him twice with the front bumper of the car.
Eventually, the four teens fled the scene, but were later pulled over and arrested by officers near the intersection of State Road 436 and Michigan Avenue. When police questioned them, they admitted that they had robbed the man with a paintball gun that looked like a pistol.
They also said they had planned to use the score for “gas, food and going out.”
Besides Salemi-Cavelli, 19 year old Natalie Perez, 18 year old Delainah Torres and an unidentified 17 year old were charged with the robbery. The driver was also charged with aggravated battery with a motor vehicle.
