Jimmie Flynt, a Daytona Beach police spokesman, states that in these robberies, the suspect will go into the store with a note and demand oxycodone. He says that the note will usually mention that he is carrying a gun, and then he will ask for the note back.
After the robbery was reported, The Daytona Beach Police arrived at the Walgreens on Saturday afternoon. The Walgreens pharmacy staff stated that a white male walked up to the pharmacy window and handed a note demanding oxycodone and that he had a gun.
The pharmacy employee behind the counter at the time reported that an object was displayed around the suspect’s waistband. Several bottles of oxycodone were given to the robber, who then ran from the store.
Later that afternoon, a man who matched the same description of the robber was reported to be at the CVS down the street from the Walgreens. The responding officers quickly arrived at the store and found the man near the front door.
Officers handling the robbery told the man to stop and show them his hands. When he failed to do so after three requests, he was tasered by the cops.
When the suspect was arrested, the officers found a tire iron in his waistband and a hold-up note in one of his pockets.
