An Orlando criminal law attorney, Orlando drug lawyer, Orlando DUI lawyer or Orlando violation of probation attorney can advise clients in a variety of legal matters including domestic violence, robbery, DUI, violation of probation and drug related charges.
In this case, the suspects will need an Orlando criminal law attorney with experience in grand theft cases as the amount in question is so high.
According to investigators with the Orange County Sheriffs Department, 24 year old Jasmin Roman and her boyfriend 26 year old Juan Carlos Ortiz Valez planned to hold up a South Orlando Best Buy store as the location received a shipment of new iPads last Thursday.
They were arrested after an off-duty deputy noticed them parked in the store parking lot at around 4:00am Thursday with a Uhaul trailer. After calling for backup, deputy Robbie Zelle discovered a stash of handguns, binoculars, handcuffs, mace, chains, a lock, masks, gloves, and a knife in their trailer.
Roman was still an employee at the store at the time of the attempted robbery. Valez had previously been fired from the retailer. Upon questioning, the couple admitted to the scheme, saying they had planned to take employees hostage as they loaded a shipment of new iPads worth an estimated $1.2 million.
The pair also admitted they had slashed the tires of a store manager earlier in the evening so that there would be less people on hand at the store at the time of the robbery.
Ortiz Valez and Roman both face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. Roman also faces a charge of conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
